Last week, I talked about “や / ya” and I said it cannot be used to connect verbs. Today’s expression is the verb version of “や / ya”.
日本(にほん)に行(い)ったとき、すしを食(た)べたり、お茶(ちゃ)を飲(の)んだりしました。
When I went to Japan, I did many things such as eating sushi and drinking green tea.
This pattern is used to list up two or more actions as examples.
Even though, I said …たり、~たり, “~た” part is the past plain form of a verb and you have to give at least 2 examples.
