Question words + ka

On Monday this week, I talked about adding “も / mo” or “でも / demo” after a question word but today I will talk about adding “か / ka” to a question word to add the meaning of “some”.

 

Read the examples below to see what I mean.

nani wo tabemasuka

What do you eat?

なにたべましょう。

nanika tabemashou

Let’s eat something.

どちらがすきですか。

dochira ga sukidesuka

Which do you like?

どちらえらびましょう。

dochiraka erabimashou

Let’s choose one.

だれがきますか。

dare ga kimasuka

Who is coming.

だれがきます。

dareka ga kimasu

Somebody is coming.

どこにいきますか。

doko ni ikimasuka

Where are you going?

どこにいきましょう。

dokoka ni ikimashou

Let’s go somewhere.

itsu ikimasuka

When are we going?
