Shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) is a hotpot dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables. The food is cooked piece by piece by the diner at the table. The name comes from the sound emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot. Shabu-shabu is usually served with dipping sauces and usually more savory and less sweet than sukiyaki.
