Today’s #kanji is #森. Another 木 (tree) is added to the last kanji I posted about. 森 is definitely a compound ideograph.
Meaning: a forest
Reading: シン、もり
森閑（シンカン）とした: still, qiet, deserted, silent
森林（シンリン）: a forest, a wood
森羅（シンラ）万象（バンショウ）: Nature, all things in nature, the whole of creation
森（もり）: a forest
森（もり）の精（セイ）: a wood nymph,, a dryad
森（もり）の都（みやこ）: a city full of trees (仙台（センダイ） is often referred to as もりの都 but in that case the kanji 杜 is used instead of 森)
鎮守（チンジュ）の森（もり）: the grove of the village shrine
木（き）を見（み）て森（もり）を見（み）ず: be unable to see the wood for the trees.
