Often the English word “young” is translated as 若い (わかい/wakai). However, the Japanese word 若い is closer to “youthful” than “young” and is not used for a child.
If you want to describe a child being young, you should use the word 小さな(ちいさな/chiisana), 小さい (ちいさい/chiisai) or 幼い (おさない/osanai) instead of 若い.
