BBC produced a brilliant article about the Japanese word “tsundoku” 積読(つんどく). Please read it at https://www.bbc.com/news/world-44981013
つんどく is particulary funny because it sounds very much like a casual verb, つんでおく(keep [things] piled up).
Anyway, I thought this might be a good opportunity to introduce a few words which end in 読(どく)
黙読(もくどく)- silent reading
音読(おんどく)- reading out loud
朗読(ろうどく)- reading out loud in front of an audience
通読(つうどく)- reading through
再読(さいどく)- rereading
乱読(らんどく)- random reading
精読(せいどく)- intensive reading
購読(こうどく)- subscribing
They are all nouns but all can be used with する or しますand be used as a verb.
