Today’s Grammar Point: ～というほどではない
～というほどではない is an expression to say “the extent of something is not as much as you would call ～.” It is often used to make a humble statement about oneself or one’s own family member.

The problem isn’t difficult, but it’s not that easy.うちの息子は真面目だというほどではありませんが、よく勉強します。
My son is not as much as I can call studious, but he studies hard. (being humble)このお寺は有名ですが、名刹というほどではありません。
This temple is famous, but not as famous as I would call a noted temple.うちの娘はよく勉強しますが、秀才というほどではありません。
My daughter studies a lot, but she won’t be called a talented person.
