Meaning
[clause A] means [clause B]
This pattern is used to express your own interpretation or conclusion (stated in clause B) of a certain situation (stated in the clause A).

Examples
- 人を愛するということは、その人の心に「の」をつけて受け入れるということだ。
To love a person means to accept that person’s heart with the particle “no” (which works like a question mark in Japanese).
Please see the above tile. The kanji 愛 is made of 心 + 受 + ノ (katakana). - 毎日手紙を書いているということは、その人が好き(だ)*ということかな?
Does your writing a letter everyday mean you fancy her? - すっぱいものが食べたいということは、おなかに赤ちゃんがいるということかもしれないね。
That you want to eat something sour may mean that you are pregnant. - この問題が難しいということは、もっと勉強した方がいいということですね。
My finding this question difficult would mean that I should study more. - 朝焼けがきれい(だ)*ということは、その日の天気がよくないということです。
The morning sky being red and beautiful means the weather on the day won’t be very good.
* だ in the brackets is often omitted in conversations.
